Construction Superannuation & Redundancy: Know Your Rights in WA

Construction Superannuation and Redundancy in WA

Understanding your entitlements protects your income and retirement savings.

Superannuation

Employers must pay 11.5% super on top of your ordinary earnings (increasing to 12% from July 2025). Most construction workers are in industry funds like Cbus or Australian Super. Check your super is being paid — unpaid super is one of the most common wage theft issues in construction.

Redundancy Pay

Under the Building and Construction General On-site Award, redundancy pay accrues based on years of service. After 1 year: 4 weeks. After 2 years: 6 weeks. After 3 years: 7 weeks. Up to 16 weeks after 10+ years. Some EBAs provide higher redundancy entitlements.
